The purpose of this letter is to recommend to interested parties the Expressways
To Reading® program...
I am a certified teacher and have taught in Texas public schools for
nine years. After working with the Expressways To Reading® program
for nine months, I can honestly say that I have never seen a more
effective reading program.
The program itself is extremely well developed. The sequential ordering
and phonemic progression enables the learner to "stack up" the
necessary skills for reading, spelling and writing. The program also
teaches correct processing of information through a multi-sensory
approach. This neurological patterning allows for quick recall.
This program would be a tremendous tool for teachers in the public
school systems. One of the beautiful elements of this program is its
adaptability to learners of various ages and with varying abilities and
problems. In the Mt. Pleasant clinic we have worked with many children who
have learning difficulties, such as Attention Deficit Disorder and
Dyslexia with great success. We have also worked with students of average
ability and even with some gifted students and found that their learning
was greatly accelerated. This success occurs because Expressways to
Reading® is a highly individualized program which moves students at a
pace that is comfortable for them.
I cannot talk about the ETR program without mentioning the way in which
it affects the student's self-concept. ETR is carried out in a very
positive, non-threatening atmosphere. Students soon learn that they can be
successful and with the copious amounts of positive reinforcement being
offered by the program's instructors, students begin to have the
self-confidence they need to be successful at school in in getting along
with others.
I would also like to address my relationship to this program as a
parent. My daughter, Misty, was in the second grade in a public school
this past year. Although Misty had always made straight A's in school, I
knew that she was not being challenged to reach her potential. Misty came
to ETR and worked on the reading program for a total of 58 hours. Her
initial testing showed her reading independently at the second grade
level. Her final post-test showed a gain of three years, putting her
independent reading level at fifth grade. Needless to say I was very
pleased with these results.
If your child is experiencing frustration in his/her learning let me
assure you that help is available. The qualified, caring staff at Expressways
To Learning® clinics have a dynamite learning process available now.
I would strongly recommend this program to any parent or school system
that is seeking the best program available for their children. |
| In our search for excellence, we
examined Dr. Hoes' Expressways to Reading® program. This program
is an inspired and comprehensive remedial program that Dr. Hoes has worked
on for nearly 30 years. The program utilizes documented neurological
principles to bypass learning disabilities and dramatically improves the
student's reading skills.
We are proud to be the first private school for children with these
difficulties in the United States to feature Dr. Hoes' program as our
primary curriculum in reading. Our heartfelt belief is that we could
probably reduce reading disabilities to extinction if all school utilized
this program in our higher level readers.
Due to Dr. Hoes' extraordinary reading program, our students have
improved almost two full grade levels in just one year! I know that he can
be of great assistance in your school district. |
| It is my pleasure to write you
regarding my association with the Expressways To Learning®
Corporation. I cannot imagine a more rewarding and enjoyable career than
being a site for the Expressways To Reading® and Expressways To
Math® programs. The greatest reward is being a catalyst for the
improvement that students make in their processing ability; then, watching
the effects spread into other areas of their lives as they become more
confident, expressive, and self-motivated. I've seen this happen
repeatedly in my three years with you.
My first success story was that of my own daughter. As a frustrated
parent of a child who couldn't seem to learn on the level of her
potential, I enrolled her in a summer Expressways To Reading®
program at a private school quite a distance from home. It was soon
evident that something was happening in my daughter's patterns of
thinking, expressing herself, and remembering what was presented to her. I
was thrilled to finally find something that really made a difference. For
the following school year, I was selected to train for the position of Expressways
To Learning® Instructor at the same school. The year was
extraordinary! It so motivated me that I decided to open a learning center
near my home, which has been operating for almost two years now, with
enrollment at or near capacity year-round.
Throughout my involvement these few years, the benefits gained by
students are still proving to be consistent, impressive, and lasting.
Teachers and counselors at a nearby elementary school are convinced as
well. They now frequently refer students to me when little else seems to
be working in their traditional approach. The students are nearly always
above average in general intelligence--bright and creative, but unable to
take in information (and respond) accurately. The parents of my students,
however, are by far my best advertisements. When something really helps a
child to become more capable of efficient learning activity, the parents
as well as the children are grateful forever. Where else could students
possibly gain from 1 to 7 years in performance after just a few months of
classes one hour a day? This was dramatically evident recently when I
received a phone call from the parent of the first two students at my
learning center. Now, almost two years later, they still refer to
their Expressways classes as the "turning point," saying
that hardly a week passes that they don't mention something that happened
in their time here. Now honor students, this brother and sister (who were
in the Expressways To Reading® program for 14 months) understand
what happened neurologically, as well as in their performance and
self-esteem. They, themselves, realize the differences in their own lives.
It pleases me that their memories of the classes are very lasting and
positive ones.
Thank you for the years of researching and testing you have done to
make Expressways To Reading® and Expressways to Math®
exactly what they are represented to be, and for your considerate, prompt,
attentive help and advice whenever I need you. I look forward to many
years of success stories with Expressways To Learning®! |
